“Russia Launches Massive Drone and Missile Attack on Ukraine”

Last night, Russia unleashed over 650 drones and fifty missiles on Ukraine, leading to extensive damage and widespread power outages. The attacks resulted in the death of at least two individuals in Zaporizhzhia and left 17 others severely injured, including six children. Amid mounting pressure from the US to cease hostilities, Western areas near the Polish border were targeted, prompting Polish fighter jets to be put on standby in case any missiles strayed across the border.

The assault, which included various types of missiles and drones like Kinzhal air-launched missiles and Kh-101 cruise missiles, triggered alarms across Ukraine, activating air defenses in almost all regions. The attacks caused injuries, destruction of homes and infrastructure, and fires, particularly in the capital city of Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that despite some drones being intercepted, there were still impactful hits.

The city of Zaporizhzhia bore the brunt of the onslaught, enduring continuous strikes from numerous drones and missiles, resulting in the destruction of an entire apartment building. In Dnipro, ballistic missiles struck overnight, with 22 drones being downed in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Surprisingly, regions far west of the conflict zone were also targeted in the Russian offensive.

Explosions rocked Ivano-Frankivsk as cruise missiles hit the area, causing power outages. The mayor confirmed disruptions to the energy infrastructure, emphasizing the vulnerability of the country’s power grid. In the Mykolaiv region, shelling led to extensive power outages and disrupted rail services. Additionally, Russian forces attacked energy facilities in the Lviv region near the Polish border.

Ladyzhyn in the Vinnytsia region was left without essential services following the attacks, with authorities preparing alternative heating and water supply measures. Poland swiftly responded by deploying fighter jets and an early warning aircraft in reaction to Russia’s offensive. The Polish Armed Forces raised air defense systems to the highest alert level, ready to defend against any incoming threats.

As tensions escalate, the situation in Ukraine remains volatile, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict’s devastating impact.
