Pregnant Drug Smuggler Seeks Early Release

Pregnant woman accused of drug smuggling, Bella Culley, is seeking early release from prison before her expected delivery, as uncovered by a recent report. Despite agreeing to a two-year jail term following a plea deal, the 19-year-old British national is due to give birth in December. Her family, including her mother and father, have paid a substantial sum to the court, but it remains uncertain if she will serve her full sentence in a local women’s prison or if alternative arrangements will be made.

In an attempt to secure her release, Bella’s legal team is considering applying for a presidential pardon as an option for her departure from Georgia. Should this effort fail, sources suggest that due to her pregnancy and good conduct while incarcerated, Bella might still be eligible for early parole before childbirth. If unsuccessful, plans in Georgia involve transferring Bella to a nearby hospital for her delivery, followed by a provision for her and her child’s care within a specialized custody facility.

During a recent court appearance, Bella, appearing surprised yet later smiling, was informed of the plea deal details. Her lawyer had previously indicated that the amount paid by the family might influence the duration of her sentence. Following the court session, Bella’s mother disclosed that the court had initially demanded a higher sum for Bella’s release than what was paid.

The prosecutor confirmed the agreement on the plea bargain, with Bella’s lawyer expressing readiness for the final hearing to determine the verdict. Bella’s request for bail prior to the sentencing hearing was denied by the judge, citing insufficient legal grounds for a change in her current conditions. Bella’s lawyer emphasized her cooperation and plea of guilt, seeking her release on bail due to her advanced pregnancy.

Bella, a student nurse from Billingham, Teesside, faced legal issues after being found with a significant quantity of cannabis in her possession. Claiming coercion by criminal elements, she narrated a harrowing account of being forced into drug trafficking. Her lawyer assured that Bella’s pregnancy is progressing well and that she will have the opportunity to bond with her child post-birth.
