Sugababes member Mutya Buena has disclosed that postnatal depression played a significant role in her decision to leave the successful band. The 40-year-old artist departed from the group in late 2005, shortly after the birth of her daughter Tahlia-May, and was subsequently replaced by Amelle Berrabah.
Following her exit, Mutya later reunited with Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy to embark on tours and create new music together. In a recent interview, Mutya shared insights into her departure from the group, expressing that she would have stayed if she had the opportunity to take a brief break from work.
During an interview with Glamour UK, bandmate Keisha reflected on the challenges the group has faced over the years, emphasizing the perseverance required to overcome obstacles and criticisms. The trio of original members shocked fans in 2011 when they announced their reunion, marking their first collaboration since Donaghy’s departure in 2001.
In 2019, the Sugababes regained the legal rights to their band name, which propelled them back into the spotlight. Discussing their comeback in an exclusive interview with the Mirror, Siobhan praised the incredible legacy of the iconic girl group, highlighting the mix of pressure and motivation it brings to create new music.
Keisha affirmed the group’s commitment to picking up where they left off and providing a satisfying conclusion for their dedicated fans. The trio expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from their followers throughout the years, emphasizing the importance of delivering a different and fulfilling experience.
