A Frontier Airlines plane faced an emergency evacuation at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta when a passenger discovered a loaded gun magazine near seat 7A on the Airbus A320. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Frontier Airlines, Homeland Security, and Police K-9 units responded along with a call to the FBI. The magazine, marked with the initials “K H,” was found during boarding for a return flight to Cincinnati.
After the magazine was removed and passengers were rescreened, the flight departed almost three-and-a-half hours later. The Atlanta Police reported the incident and stated that no additional concerning items were found after a thorough search of the aircraft. The FBI was informed, and there were no active threats identified.
Local news outlets mentioned that investigators were still trying to determine the owner of the gun following the Sunday incident. Passengers expressed surprise at the situation, with one stating they had never experienced such an event before. Another passenger acknowledged feeling safe overall but expressed concerns about potential risks if the gun magazine had not been swiftly dealt with.
