A mother of four from Wales tragically passed away while celebrating her son’s 13th birthday on a family vacation in Spain. Emma Wood, aged 46, collapsed during a boat trip with her family and could not be revived despite efforts to save her. The family had traveled 1,200 miles from Wales to the Costa del Sol to mark her son’s milestone.

Described as a devoted mother, daughter, and friend who always offered help to those in need, Ms. Wood leaves behind four children who were her greatest joy and whom she adored. A family friend, Amanda Jayne, speaking on behalf of Ms. Wood’s mother, Dianne Astley, praised her as a kind-hearted individual both inside and out.

The family is grieving and asks for privacy to cope with the loss. Ms. Wood’s body was taken to a hospital on the Costa del Sol, and an inquest into her death is scheduled to open in Pontypridd. British Embassy officials in Spain are providing support to the family and collaborating with Spanish authorities. The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office affirmed their assistance to the family of the deceased British national.
