Oasis has honored their guitarist Bonehead with a heartfelt tribute as he had to withdraw from the upcoming part of their global reunion tour. The 60-year-old rock musician had been a fixture at the band’s iconic UK performances but recently revealed that he is battling cancer once again, just three years after overcoming tonsil cancer in 2022.
In a social media post on October 3, Bonehead, whose real name is Paul Arthurs, disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis and expressed gratitude for the positive response to his treatment, allowing him to join the current tour. However, he shared the unfortunate news of having to pause for further treatment, leading to his absence from shows in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney. Bonehead assured fans of his recovery and anticipated his return for the South American leg in November.
Despite his temporary hiatus, there are hopes that Bonehead will rejoin Oasis for their final tour stops in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. To keep his presence felt, Liam and Noel included a cardboard cutout of Bonehead on tour, as seen in a post on Bonehead’s Instagram account, where he encouraged fans to enjoy the music.
Acknowledging Bonehead’s health battle, the Gallagher brothers extended their well wishes and anticipation for his return on stage in South America. A close source to Oasis affirmed the band’s support for Bonehead’s decision to prioritize his health, indicating potential arrangements for a replacement guitarist for the affected tour dates.
In an exclusive reveal by Mirror’s Showbiz Editor Mark Jefferies, Mike Moore, a longtime associate of Liam Gallagher and a member of his solo touring band, will step in as the rhythm guitarist for the upcoming Oasis shows. Moore’s familiarity with Oasis songs from his tenure with Liam’s band adds to the excitement of his temporary role alongside the remaining Oasis lineup, which includes Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Joey Waronker.
As Bonehead focuses on his health, the band and fans eagerly await his return to the stage, with Moore set to join the iconic group temporarily for the upcoming tour dates.
