To address this issue and enhance energy security, the government is ramping up clean energy initiatives, such as solar, wind, and nuclear projects.

In a move to support struggling hospitality businesses, an energy-saving scheme is being implemented. More than 525 pubs, restaurants, and hotels will benefit from a new digital tool offering personalized energy reduction plans. This initiative has already proven successful, with some businesses cutting their energy consumption by up to 66%, saving around £2,500 per establishment annually.

Examples of savings include a pub in Caterham saving over £1,500 per year and a pub in Bromley reducing costs by £48 weekly, equating to a significant yearly profit retention. Besides cost savings, the scheme aids in reducing carbon emissions, aligning with sustainability goals.

By empowering owners to optimize energy usage, the scheme enables businesses to focus on customer service and growth. Thriving small businesses contribute to vibrant communities, stimulating local economies and providing gathering spaces for residents.

Government support for the hospitality sector includes a 15% reduction in business rates for pubs and a £10 million Hospitality Support Fund. These efforts underscore the commitment to safeguarding businesses, families, and communities nationwide, in line with the clean energy mission.
