Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has made a comeback from retirement to join Canada’s four-player squad for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. The 33-year-old Plouffe will team up with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, along with Cassandra Brown and Paige Crozon for the upcoming competition commencing this Saturday.

Canada currently holds the 10th position in the women’s series standings as they approach the final phase of the regular season. Bangkok serves as one of Canada’s last chances to accrue crucial qualification points before the women’s series final in Shanghai on September 5-6, where the top seven teams, alongside host China, will compete.

Steve Baur, vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed that Michelle Plouffe’s return was a strategic move to bolster the team’s chances of progressing to Shanghai. Plouffe, who retired on July 28, 2025, to take on the role of Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager, brings a wealth of experience, having previously led Canada to multiple FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series triumphs, a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics.

This decision to include Plouffe in the roster not only aims to enhance Canada’s performance but also provides her with an opportunity to reignite her competitive spirit and evaluate her readiness to return to the playing field.
