Norwegian Football Star Haaland Debuts Bold New Haircut

If you’ve been curious about what antics Erling Haaland has been engaging in since the conclusion of the World Cup — like, perhaps, acquiring more taxidermy raccoons or perfecting his robot dance moves — his latest escapade involves a striking haircut that’s sure to grab attention.

Sharing with his 76.9 million Instagram followers, the Norwegian football sensation and summer social media sensation captioned his post “Short hair, don’t care” as he unveiled his new buzz cut on Sunday.

In another post featuring a video, Haaland remarked, “New season, new trim,” showcasing his long, golden locks before the trim and the fresh look afterward.

Prior to the 2026 World Cup, Haaland was already a renowned and successful player at Manchester City in the UK, having secured nine major trophies with the club, including the prestigious Champions League title.

During the tournament, the 26-year-old’s popularity soared due to his witty humor and on-field prowess, not forgetting his distinct hairstyle.

In a YouTube video shared on Sunday, Haaland expressed his intentions of cutting his hair post-World Cup, admitting he was occupied during the tournament. He revealed a slight hesitation, citing advice from his mentor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a former star striker who warned him against cutting his hair, as it symbolized his strength. Haaland nervously remarked, “But the Vikings? They go short as well.”

Following his haircut, Haaland facetimed Ibrahimovic to reveal his new appearance. The reaction was immediate, with Ibrahimovic expressing shock and jesting that Haaland should block him and delete his number.

Haaland also contacted former City manager Pep Guardiola, who, being bald, humorously remarked, “You’re lucky to have hair.”

    ‘Put it back’

The reaction on social media varied, with some fans praising Haaland’s new look, remarking that it made him appear sharper and younger, while others mourned the loss of his iconic hairstyle.

“An angel lost its wings,” commented one individual on his Instagram post.
