Survivors of a harrowing plane emergency landing in Prince George, B.C., which resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, are recounting their experiences. Jaime Pawliuk, who was on his way to work, narrated how the plane approached him suddenly, causing significant damage to his vehicle. Despite sustaining minor injuries, he managed to walk away from the incident. Photos of his wrecked car, with a shattered sunroof and a metal rod protruding through the passenger seat, were shared.

The aircraft, identified as a Beech King Air 200, made the emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard, a key road connecting residential areas in Prince George. Pawliuk and others had to abandon their vehicles at the site during the investigation. Subsequently, several damaged vehicles were towed away from the scene the following day.

Mohit Arora witnessed a pickup truck being struck by the plane’s wing but noted that the driver survived. Images displayed debris from the plane lodged in the truck’s windshield, as well as a propeller on the road and a yellow car in a ditch. A family member of the occupants in the yellow car confirmed that they escaped unharmed but their vehicle sustained damage.

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) disclosed that the plane collided with four vehicles on Foothills Boulevard. The aircraft, departing from Sturdee Airstrip with eight individuals on board, was en route to Prince George International Airport when an engine failure necessitated the emergency landing. The TSB investigation is ongoing, with efforts to document the scene and conduct interviews.

Former TSB investigator Bill Yearwood emphasized the challenging decisions pilots face during emergencies, highlighting the necessity of quick thinking. Despite the tragic outcome, the investigation continues to determine the specific circumstances that led to the incident. The road has since reopened, with the plane relocated for further assessment.
