A woman who identifies as an aristocrat has rescinded her invitation to Prince Andrew citing threats of violence.
Lady Carbisdale, a lawyer and entrepreneur, has been the owner of Carbisdale Castle, a 19-bedroom establishment, since 2022. She recently made a public declaration on social media offering her property as a potential accommodation option for Prince Andrew. This offer came after reports suggested Prince Andrew might be relocated to a smaller royal castle in the Scottish Highlands due to allegations associated with Jeffrey Epstein.
Following a negative public reaction described as “hostile,” Samantha Kane, also known as Ms. Kane, has retracted her invitation. Nevertheless, she has indicated that the venue remains open for use by the royal family if required in the future.
In a Facebook post, Ms. Kane expressed that she had reached out to King Charles III and Prince Andrew to update them on the ongoing restoration efforts at Carbisdale Castle and to offer the estate for their use. She acknowledged the public’s disapproving responses to her offer, including threats of violence and property damage. Consequently, she deemed the offer unfeasible unless officially sanctioned by the Crown.
On October 17, Prince Andrew announced his decision to relinquish his royal titles just before the publication of the memoir by his accuser, Virginia Giuffre. The prince has consistently denied the allegations and previously settled out of court in 2022 without admitting any wrongdoing.
In his statement, Prince Andrew stated that ongoing accusations against him were diverting attention from the monarchy’s duties, leading to his decision to step back from public life and renounce his titles. He reiterated his denial of the accusations and emphasized his commitment to prioritizing his family and country.
Ms. Kane, known for undergoing gender transition three times, reportedly invested significant resources in restoring Carbisdale Castle, originally constructed for Mary Caroline, the Duchess of Sutherland, in 1907.
