Swedish pole vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has unveiled his favorite color in a promotional campaign for the inaugural Ultimate Championship. The two-time Olympic gold medalist launched “Gold” alongside World Athletics as the official anthem for the upcoming competition, which features a substantial prize pool of $10 million.

Taking place in Budapest from September 11-13, the Ultimate Championship will showcase top-tier athletes, including Olympic, world, and Diamond League champions, across three evening sessions. Winners of individual events will be rewarded with $150,000 in prize money.

Known for his musical inclinations, 26-year-old Duplantis has been involved in the music scene for some time and previously released his debut single, “Bop,” in 2025. Expressing his aspirations beyond athletics, Duplantis shared his dream of clinching a Grammy award.

Collaborating with Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase, Duplantis wrote “Gold,” which was also produced by Chase, as announced by World Athletics. Describing the song’s significance, Duplantis emphasized the theme of representing something greater than oneself, a sentiment he believes aligns with the spirit of competition.

The music video for “Gold,” shot in Budapest, incorporates archival footage of Duplantis during his early athletic endeavors. Notably, Duplantis views music as a form of therapeutic release and a means to diversify his interests outside of sports.

During the Ultimate Championship, “Gold” will be integrated into the event’s broadcast and live experience, fostering a global connection among fans. Duplantis is set to perform the anthem live at the event’s conclusion, underscoring the event’s celebration of both athletic prowess and artistic expression.

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe praised Duplantis’ contribution, highlighting the championship’s focus on showcasing athletes’ multifaceted talents. The Ultimate Championship is slated to be held biennially, offering a platform for athletes to shine both on and off the track.
