“Woman Fakes Pregnancy with Plastic Doll, Denies Fake Fundraiser”

A woman who was caught in a scandal involving a fake baby has denied starting a fundraiser supposedly aimed at supporting her new life. She claimed to be in a dire situation with no food, money, or clothes. Kira Cousins from Airdrie, Scotland, deceived her family into believing a plastic doll was her newborn baby by wearing a fake bump for months and then faking a lone birth. The truth came out when her family found the realistic Reborn doll, named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce, in her bedroom.

Despite the appearance of a GoFundMe page apparently created by Kira, pleading for financial help due to her current state of destitution, she denied any involvement when approached by the Daily Record. She stated that she did not have access to the account and had reported it to the authorities. The fundraising campaign has only collected £20 so far, with a family friend describing Kira as a “serial liar” who laughed at the idea of her setting up a GoFundMe.

Kira’s elaborate ruse involved sharing baby scans, videos of a gender reveal party, and photos of baby items leading up to the supposed birth of her baby on October 10. She even claimed the baby had health issues detected during prenatal tests. However, after her deception was uncovered, the baby’s supposed father exposed her lies.

The Reborn doll used in the scam is designed to resemble a real baby and can cost anywhere from £30 to £2,000. Messages reportedly sent by Kira to the man posing as the baby’s dad revealed her deceitful tactics, including falsely claiming the baby had passed away.

Kira initially declined to comment but later admitted to fabricating the entire pregnancy and birth story. She expressed remorse for deceiving her loved ones and acknowledged the damage caused by her actions. Additionally, she defended those who believed the doll was a real baby, explaining its lifelike features.

A close friend of Kira mentioned suspicions arising from the absence of the baby’s cries in a video statement and how Kira kept the doll out of reach during supposed hospital visits. Conversations between the friend and Kira about the fake baby were made public, along with images of the doll, exposing the depth of the deception.

Neave, the friend, shared her disappointment at being misled and expressed sympathy for others who fell for Kira’s lies. She recounted the experience of meeting the doll at a supermarket, feeling used and deceived like everyone else who was fooled by Kira’s elaborate hoax.
