Steve Cram, a BBC co-commentator, has urged Winter Olympic officials to address the Canada curling team for their use of inappropriate language after defeating Team GB 9-5.

The Brad Jacobs-led Canadian team has sparked controversy in Milan and Cortina. The BBC issued an apology following an incident where Canada’s Marc Kennedy engaged in a heated exchange with Swedish player Oskar Eriksson earlier in the competition.

Kennedy also faced accusations of improper stone handling during their win over Sweden, prompting World Curling to issue a statement clarifying the rules. Despite this, the BBC commentary team criticized the Canadians’ language once again.

During a break in the match, the Canadian team was heard using profanity near TV cameras, drawing criticism from Cram and co-commentator Logan Gray.

After one Canadian team member was heard swearing, Cram expressed disapproval, stating, “Excuse me.” Cram emphasized the need for officials to address the Canadians, with Gray commenting on their language.

At that point, Canada held a 3-1 lead after the third end. The pivotal throw allowed Jacobs’ team to capitalize on the hammer, securing a point against Mouat’s team.

Mouat’s Team GB, despite securing the Olympic silver medal in 2022, faces challenges after the loss to Canada, needing victories against both Canada and the USA to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

A loss to Norway in their last round robin match intensified the importance of the clash against Canada. Even a win against the USA may not be sufficient for Team GB to advance, relying on favorable results to reach the semi-finals.
