Manchester United has reportedly extended an offer to West Ham for a potential transfer deal involving Joshua Zirkzee, who has been on the sidelines since the club’s recent spending spree despite only joining Old Trafford in the summer of 2024.
West Ham’s new acquisitions over the summer, including Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, alongside the return of Mason Mount, have led to Zirkzee being out of favor. Following the loan exits of Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford, Zirkzee is expected to be the next departure from the club.
Zirkzee, who has yet to start a game this season and has only played 23 minutes in the last six league matches, expressed his desire to leave Manchester United as revealed by Mirror Football. The Dutch forward is keen on staying in the Premier League, making West Ham an attractive option as he aims for more playing time to secure a place in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.
With West Ham currently positioned 19th in the Premier League standings after nine games, the club has struggled offensively, scoring just seven goals. Despite significant summer spending exceeding £100 million, the Hammers only added Callum Wilson and Daniel Cummings as new strikers, with Wilson yet to feature prominently under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
While Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged the lack of game time for certain players, including Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo, he emphasized the importance of all squad members contributing effectively throughout the season. Amorim highlighted the players’ desire for playing time, especially with the upcoming World Cup, but affirmed their roles within the team.
Sky has announced a reduction in the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming 2025/26 season, offering substantial savings and a broader selection of live matches, including over 1,400 matches across various leagues. Additionally, Sky will broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League games in the upcoming season, a significant increase from previous seasons.
