Greene King is set to offer complimentary pints of Guinness during the upcoming Six Nations rugby games. To enjoy this freebie, patrons must reserve a table for any match on February 7 through the Greene King website and present their booking confirmation at the bar.
This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of the new Fans Reunited initiative. The campaign is endorsed by Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.
Managing Director Zoe Bowley expressed, “Fans Reunited highlights the significant role of sports and pub gatherings in uniting people. By aligning with the Guinness Six Nations and providing a complimentary pint, we aim to spark connections where old acquaintances can relish the game together.”
Former rugby player Martin Johnson emphasized the power of rugby in fostering lasting friendships and community spirit. He praised Greene King’s Fans Reunited campaign for promoting these meaningful connections in a pub setting.
Additionally, the Treasury recently announced a 15% discount on business rates for pubs and music venues starting in April as part of a substantial support package. This decision follows pressure to assist these establishments due to changes in the budget and the conclusion of pandemic aid.
Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson stated that pubs could save an average of £1,650 next year thanks to this relief. The support, however, does not extend to other hospitality businesses like hotels and restaurants.
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, welcomed the government’s response, noting that this specialized aid package will help pubs weather financial challenges and ensure their continued operation.
