Apple has commenced its annual WWDC Developers Conference at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino, unveiling the upcoming iOS 27 software upgrade set to launch in Autumn, succeeding the current iOS 26.

The new operating system will introduce enhancements such as customizable Liquid Glass visuals, improved file search capabilities, and an advanced Siri capable of tasks like composing emails, scheduling events, and assisting in ticket bookings for events.

Apple assures that older iPhone models will experience increased responsiveness thanks to a feature known as CPU Scheduler. Additionally, device performance across the board is expected to improve significantly, with iPhone and iPad applications launching up to 30% faster, photos loading up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers speeding up by up to 80%.

For parents with kids using Apple devices, a new suite of user-friendly features will be introduced to manage content access, communication limits, and screen time controls. Features like “Ask to Browse,” “Time Allowances,” and enhanced Screen Time settings aim to reduce parental concerns when sharing devices with children.

Highlighting their commitment to user empowerment and safety, Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health and Fitness, emphasized the introduction of updates focused on establishing age-appropriate protections and promoting healthy digital habits within families.

While Apple is yet to reveal the full extent of changes, it has confirmed that all iPhones currently running iOS 26 will be eligible for the iOS 27 update. The compatible device list includes a range of iPhone models from iPhone 11 to the latest iPhone 17e, along with the second and third-generation iPhone SE.
