A unique case has emerged of a young girl suffering from an extremely rare disease with no known cure, leaving her with only a few weeks to live. Stacie Hammond, a mother from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, received the devastating news after her baby, Harleigh Tidd, was diagnosed with a complex medical condition during a routine scan.

Harleigh’s condition, which baffled doctors, led to collapsed lungs filled with fluid, a rare combination of lymphangioleiomyomatosis, chylothorax, and skeletal dysplasia. This diagnosis makes Harleigh the only known individual in the world with this specific medical profile.

Despite undergoing numerous surgeries and treatments, doctors have reached the conclusion that there are no further options available to help Harleigh. She has been fitted with a final chest drain, indicating that her time is limited to only a few months.

Stacie, who has been caring for Harleigh full-time, expressed her heartbreak over the situation, recounting the challenges they have faced since Harleigh’s birth. The family is now receiving palliative care support and has made the difficult decision to enact a Do Not Resuscitate order.

In a poignant gesture, the family is fundraising to fulfill Harleigh’s dream of visiting Disneyland, aiming to create lasting memories for their “little warrior princess.” Stacie also mentioned their intention to donate Harleigh’s organs to contribute to medical research and potentially help others in the future.
