Keir Starmer has criticized Nigel Farage as “completely lacking courage” for not denouncing a Reform UK councilor who labeled children in care as “utterly evil.”
During a session of PMQs, Labour MP Darren Paffey brought up the “disgusting” remarks by Reform UK’s Andy Osborn, currently under investigation for a potential breach of the members’ code of conduct.
In response, Starmer condemned Farage for his silence on the issue and urged the government to continue supporting care leavers’ rights and opportunities.
Prime Minister, in turn, emphasized the importance of supporting care leavers through legislation like the children’s Wellbeing Bill and expressed disappointment over opposition parties voting against it.
Farage, pressed to condemn the offensive comments, opted to divert the discussion towards the closure of migrant hotels, highlighting actions taken by the Reform-led West Northamptonshire Council.
Starmer further criticized Farage for failing to reprimand MP Sarah Pochin for her controversial comments and highlighted the need to address such issues promptly.
Mr. Farage had previously expressed dissatisfaction with Pochin’s comments but clarified that they were not intended to be racially motivated.
Pochin later apologized for any offense caused by her remarks, stating that her comments were poorly worded and were not meant to offend anyone.
