A woman, Julia Wandelt, 24, from Lubin, Poland, is facing trial in the UK along with Karen Spragg, 61, of Caerau, Cardiff, for allegedly stalking the parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann. Wandelt claimed to be Madeleine and contacted Operation Grange investigators, expressing her belief that she could be the missing girl. The court heard that Wandelt’s doubts about her identity stemmed from her struggles with mental health and therapy sessions during her upbringing. She questioned her past and even messaged various investigative authorities, including Scotland Yard and Interpol, to explore her suspicions further. Wandelt admitted to still questioning her identity, indicating ongoing uncertainty about her true self. Both Wandelt and Spragg have denied the stalking charges, and the trial is ongoing.
