Aspinall had suggested that not all spectators were present voluntarily. The tournament kicked off with notable players like Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, and Luke Humphries in action, alongside Aspinall.

After securing a victory over Lourence Ilagan in his initial match, Aspinall shared his observations on the event ambiance, expressing uncertainty and hinting that some attendees may not have been fully engaged. He acknowledged the unique setting of the competition and emphasized the need to start somewhere in building a darts community in the region.

Responding to Aspinall’s comments, the PDC clarified that all attendees were enthusiastic fans, with many experiencing live darts for the first time due to the inaugural nature of the event in the region. The PDC highlighted the diverse atmosphere compared to established darts events in the UK and Europe, noting the strong interest shown by the audience in Saudi Arabia.

Apart from Aspinall’s remarks, reigning world champion Luke Littler also commented on the quieter atmosphere compared to his usual experiences. Littler acknowledged the different setting and lower noise levels but remained focused on his performance and upcoming matches.
