Jeffrey Epstein reportedly claimed to have provided advice to Russian officials on managing their interactions with Donald Trump. This revelation came from a collection of 23,000 documents delivered to the US House Oversight Committee by Epstein’s estate following his death.
In one email exchange from 2018, Epstein communicated with Thorbjørn Jagland, a former Prime Minister of Norway and Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Epstein suggested that Jagland could recommend to Putin that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov seek insights from Epstein himself, referencing the late Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin’s previous interactions with him.
Epstein’s efforts to connect with Lavrov occurred just before Trump’s meeting with Putin in Helsinki. After the summit, Epstein criticized Trump’s performance to former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, highlighting concerns about Trump’s conduct and his possibly compromised position in dealing with Russia.
