A significant portion of the average annual energy bill of £1,755 is allocated to government environmental initiatives. For instance, £89 is attributed to renewable obligations, and £43 to the energy company obligation.

When considering other policy interventions like the Warm Home Discount, these schemes collectively contribute £215 to the typical yearly bill. Ofgem is set to reveal the price cap level for millions of households effective January 1 on November 21, just ahead of the Budget announcement.
