Amazon is set to introduce a new streaming device to its lineup, offering features that surpass those of current models. The Fire TV Stick HD, the latest entry-level product from the tech giant, will be available for purchase at £39.99 later this month. Despite its lower price point, it boasts several enhancements, including a significantly slimmer and more stylish design compared to its predecessor.
The new Fire TV Stick HD is now 30% narrower, making it not only easier to fit behind TVs but also more portable for users on the go. An added benefit of this streaming device is that it can be powered through the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter.
According to Amazon, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our slimmest streaming device to date – smaller in volume and width than previous models – and optimized for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port, allowing it to fit more discreetly behind a TV without requiring an additional power adapter.”
Similar to other Fire TV Sticks, it provides instant access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. Additionally, it includes a convenient remote with Alexa voice search and quick access buttons for launching apps swiftly.
While it may not support 4K resolution, the Fire TV Stick HD offers full HD viewing, which should be satisfactory for most households.
Amazon is touting that the new Fire TV Stick HD offers noticeable speed improvements over previous HD models. It is over 30% faster on average than the previous-generation HD stick, resulting in quicker startup times and faster app loading.
Moreover, it comes equipped with the latest Fire operating system, which delivers a cleaner interface, improved recommendations, and a more streamlined process for discovering content to watch.
The device is scheduled to hit stores on April 29th with a price tag of £39.99.
