International captain Geoff Ogilvy has selected two Canadian golfers, Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario, and Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia, to join the team. This marks the first time since 1998 that the International team will have two Japanese players, including Hideki Matsuyama, who secured one of the six automatic spots.
Adding to the U.S. team for the upcoming Presidents Cup is Jackson Koivun, who recently departed Auburn. Koivun, who clinched victory at the 3M Open early in his professional career and swiftly qualified for the PGA Tour postseason, is a notable inclusion. This achievement makes him the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to start a year without a tour card and compete in the Presidents Cup.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker also chose Jacob Bridgeman, a winner at Riviera this year, for the team. Despite the strong performance of Ryan Gerard, the 22nd-ranked player globally who impressed at the Tour Championship and finished third, Snedeker opted for Bridgeman.
The Presidents Cup is scheduled to take place from September 24 to 27 at Medinah, a venue that has undergone a complete renovation by Ogilvy’s Australian-based golf course design company.
