In Coleville, Sask., Dean Roberts observed a sizable grey drone flying over his 4,000-hectare farm, showcasing the DJI T100, the largest spray drone available in Canada. Equipped with a 100-litre tank for pesticides, this drone was recently approved by the federal government for crop spraying.
During a demonstration, the drone was filled with water as it maneuvered around the fields. Roberts highlighted the potential benefits of this technology for his farm, especially during wet conditions that impede ground rig operations.
Roberts emphasized that Prairie farmers like himself continually embrace technological advancements to enhance crop yields. Despite this, he noted that Canada lags behind countries like the U.S., China, and Brazil in adopting drone spraying practices.
