An individual identified as Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, a sex offender, was mistakenly released from a high-security prison in London last week. Kaddour-Cherif, 24, had a recent court appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court for failing to comply with sex offender requirements. He was serving a sentence for trespassing with an intent to steal and has a history of prior sexual offenses. Police are actively searching for him, as he remains at large.

Following this incident, Labour MP Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan expressed deep concern over the release of Kaddour-Cherif, emphasizing the need for accountability from the Government and Ministry of Justice regarding this oversight.

In a separate incident, Hadush Kebatu, a convicted sex offender, was mistakenly released from HMP Chelmsford in Essex and was later apprehended after spending three days on the run. Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed Kebatu’s deportation and emphasized the importance of preventing such errors in the future.

Additionally, in a previous case, Daniel Khalife triggered a manhunt after escaping from HMP Wandsworth by attaching himself to a delivery van. The authorities captured him three days later.

Reacting to the recent incidents, David Lammy expressed outrage over the mistaken release of a foreign criminal and emphasized the need for protecting victims and improving the criminal justice system. Lammy commissioned an independent investigation to address the recurring issue of accidental releases.
