A former Bournemouth and Brighton midfielder, Wes Fogden, sustained two broken vertebrae in his neck during a recent FA Trophy match. The incident occurred while playing for Dorchester Town against Basingstoke Town, leading to the game being called off.
Dorchester Town provided an update on Fogden’s condition, confirming that the match would be replayed on Tuesday evening after being abandoned due to his serious injury. Fogden, who serves as a player-coach for the team, was conscious and communicating as he was transported to the hospital. Scans later revealed the extent of his injury, requiring several weeks of wearing a neck collar.
Numerous football clubs and fans have expressed support for Fogden, sending well-wishes for his speedy recovery. The 37-year-old midfielder, with over 500 appearances for various league and non-league clubs, began his career at Brighton and also had a successful stint at Bournemouth, where he contributed to their Championship promotion under Eddie Howe.
Dorchester, competing in the Southern League Premier Division, entered the FA Trophy during the third qualifying round. Last year’s FA Trophy was clinched by Aldershot Town, who defeated Spennymoor Town 3-0 in the final. Sky has introduced discounted TV bundles ahead of the upcoming season, offering a wide range of live matches from the Premier League and EFL.
