A North Carolina driver had a shocking experience when a cat smashed through her car’s windshield after being dropped by a bald eagle along the US Route 74 highway in Swain County. The incident occurred while she was driving at 55mph, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The motorist immediately contacted emergency services after the bizarre encounter. During the 911 call, she described the unusual event, mentioning that a bald eagle had dropped the cat through her windshield, leading to its complete shatter.

Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed, as confirmed by Highway Patrol officials. Witnesses reported seeing the cat engaging in a struggle with the bald eagle before the unfortunate fall. While bald eagles typically prey on smaller animals like fish or birds, they may target vulnerable cats under certain circumstances.

In a similar incident in June 2022 in British Columbia, Canada, a Yorkshire Terrier named CoCo narrowly avoided being taken by a bald eagle in its owner’s garden. Despite a brief encounter with the bird, the dog managed to free itself from the eagle’s grasp with only minor injuries.

The driver’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and Highway Patrol officers arrived to document the event. Despite the unusual nature of the incident, no further injuries were reported, highlighting the unpredictable encounters that can occur in nature.
