A notorious killer was apprehended after dismembering his victims and discarding their body parts near the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Yostin Andres Mosquera, a 35-year-old adult film actor, viciously murdered Alberto Alfonso, 62, by slashing his throat during a recorded sexual encounter in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, on July 8 the previous year. Prior to this, he fatally attacked Alfonso’s partner, Paul Longworth, 71, with a hammer and tried to steal from them.
Mosquera, a Colombian national, had been residing in the victims’ apartment. He proceeded to decapitate and dismember the victims, placing their heads in a freezer and transporting the rest of their remains to Bristol in suitcases a couple of days later.
He attempted to flee when staff at the bridge noticed a suspicious leakage from one of the suitcases he was carrying and directed light towards him. Mosquera was apprehended at Bristol Temple Meads railway station. Initially, he claimed to a passing cyclist that the suitcases contained car parts.
During the court proceedings, Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC stated that Mosquera had premeditated the murders to facilitate theft, using a hammer on Longworth and a knife on Alfonso.
Regarding Alfonso’s murder, which was recorded, Heer mentioned that it occurred during a sexual act, with Mosquera waiting for the activity to commence before committing the crime.
In a final act of disrespect, Mosquera danced nude while Alfonso bled out. Before the murders, the victims had taken Mosquera to Brighton, where they all indulged in drinks and activities. Mosquera received a 40-year and 264-day sentence at Woolwich Crown Court, and he also pleaded guilty to child pornography charges before sentencing.
Judge Bennathan described the killings as premeditated and extremely wicked, highlighting the tragedy that Mosquera brought upon a loving couple who were well-regarded in their community.
