Zohran Mamdani has emerged victorious in the recent New York City mayoral election by securing over a million votes. This historic win makes him the city’s youngest mayor at 34 years old and the first Muslim and South Asian to hold the position.

Scheduled to assume office in January, Mamdani’s wife, Rama Duwaji, an accomplished illustrator, is poised to become the city’s inaugural Gen Z First Lady at just 28 years old. Raised in Dubai after being born in Houston to Syrian-American parents, Rama joined her husband on stage at Brooklyn’s Paramount Theatre post his victory, captivating onlookers with her elegance in a black lace dress, drawing comparisons to the iconic Audrey Hepburn.

Mamdani, the offspring of acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair and Columbia University professor Mahmood Mamdani, champions progressive policies such as free public transport, rent freezes, reduced law enforcement presence, and increased taxation on the affluent and large corporations.
