“UKTV Free-to-Air Channels Coming to Samsung TVs”

UK Samsung TV users are in for a significant upgrade as UKTV announces the arrival of its popular free-to-air linear channels on Samsung screens. This update will allow viewers in the UK to access a variety of bonus content without the need for extra devices, a first for Samsung users in the region.

The channels will be delivered via the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial setup. In addition, Samsung will introduce a dedicated rail on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for users to discover and enjoy classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows seamlessly.

In the coming months, channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&Eden will be accessible through a direct link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app. This rollout is expected to reach millions of Samsung TVs, with the channels featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring easy access to UKTV’s live and on-demand content for viewers relying on internet-based TV services.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm for the strengthened partnership with Samsung, emphasizing the enhanced accessibility of the U app for Samsung customers. Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted the valuable role UKTV plays in enriching the entertainment offerings on Samsung TVs, aiming to provide customers with a diverse range of broadcast content for an enhanced viewing experience.

As the leading TV brand globally for two decades, Samsung remains committed to innovation that enhances the viewing experience. The collaboration with UKTV underscores Samsung’s dedication to delivering a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem by integrating UKTV’s content with services like Samsung TV Plus and built-in broadcast app access.

While an exact launch date is yet to be announced, the new features are anticipated to roll out on Samsung TVs soon, promising an enhanced viewing experience for users.
