“UK Residents Receive £70 Supermarket Vouchers for Living Expenses”

Residents in a specific UK region are receiving £70 supermarket vouchers to assist with living expenses.

The Wakefield Council is distributing these vouchers through the Household Support Fund program. Each council administers its version of this fund, offering various forms of aid such as energy support, supermarket vouchers, and cash grants.

Low-income households receiving council tax assistance in Wakefield are eligible for the vouchers. While pensioners receiving Council Tax Support already received a £70 voucher in November, additional vouchers are scheduled for other households.

From December 15, families with Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher, whereas other supported households will get a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12.

Eligible recipients do not need to apply for the vouchers; they will be automatically dispatched within 14 days of the specified dates. Wakefield Council cautions residents to remain vigilant against potential scammers.

The council’s website stated: “We are alert to scammers sending text messages or emails to residents, falsely claiming eligibility for a Household Support Fund payment and requesting bank details for payment processing.

“Please disregard any messages resembling this. Vouchers are always distributed by mail, and bank account information is unnecessary for their use. Wakefield Council will not solicit your bank details via text or email.”

For non-Wakefield residents, it is advisable to explore the support options available through your local council’s Household Support Fund.
