UK Man Found Dead with Gunshot Wounds in St Lucia

A man from the UK was discovered deceased with gunshot injuries in St Lucia on Tuesday. Kenrelle O’Flaherty, aged 26, was on a visit to St Lucia from Anguilla, where he resided. His body was found with fatal gunshot wounds in Garrand, Babonneau, situated on the island’s North East coast late on Tuesday evening.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force reported that officers from the Babonneau station were informed of a lifeless body on a roadside around 10:50 pm. Upon reaching the scene, the police identified O’Flaherty with visible gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the location.

O’Flaherty, originally from London and living in nearby Anguilla, was believed to be on a brief trip to St Lucia. The duration of his stay on the island before the shooting remains unknown. Authorities have initiated a homicide inquiry.

A police insider stated, “We urge anyone with details to contact the major crimes unit. We are keen to establish whom he was meeting and his purpose in the vicinity. Details about the victim are scarce; all we know is his British nationality and that he arrived from a neighboring island. It is essential to swiftly resolve this situation.”

In a separate incident, an elderly woman was found deceased on a secluded island after being left behind by a cruise ship. Suzanne Rees, aged 80, went missing when she failed to appear for dinner, five hours after disappearing on Lizard Island in Queensland, Australia.

Rees, a solo traveler, had joined an organized hike but fell ill and was left behind as the cruise ship departed for its next destination. Family members of Ms. Rees criticized the lack of care and judgment by Coral Expeditions, a company owned by National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) in Australia, operating the 60-day cruise.

Mark Fifield, the CEO of Coral Expeditions, mentioned, “The crew notified authorities about a missing woman, leading to a search and rescue operation by land and sea. Subsequently, Queensland Police informed Coral Expeditions that the woman was discovered deceased on Lizard Island.”

“While investigations are ongoing, we deeply regret this incident and are extending our full support to the woman’s family. Our team has been in contact with the family and will continue to assist them through this challenging period. We are cooperating with Queensland Police and other authorities during the investigation and are refraining from further comments at this time.”
