Sky Sports subscribers are in for a treat as the F1 season kicks off with George Russell securing a win in Melbourne. Throughout 2026, fans can expect a global journey with the F1 calendar, and Sky has announced a significant TV upgrade to enhance the viewing experience.

The upcoming update will bring an interactive twist to watching races, featuring a smart sidebar that will appear during race weekends. This sidebar will provide access to Race Control, a Recap feature for revisiting key moments, and real-time in-race standings. Additionally, fans will enjoy dedicated driver and team pages with onboard cameras, enhanced race data, explainers, and improved homepage navigation.

The new features will be complimentary for Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices. While an exact launch date is yet to be confirmed, the upgrade is anticipated to be rolled out later in the season at no extra cost to existing Sky Sports subscribers.

In a statement to Express.co.uk, Sky highlighted the introduction of an immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends, offering fans more flexibility and choice for the 2026 season. Beyond the F1 upgrade, Sky has unveiled an Ultimate TV subscription plan priced at £24 per month. This plan bundles popular streaming services including Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app, which is set to launch in the UK soon.

The Ultimate TV plan, valued at around £20, also includes over 130 Sky channels, providing customers with a diverse range of entertainment options in one comprehensive package.
