Users of various devices, including Samsung models, have encountered screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app. The problem has led to text disappearing or being replaced by blank white boxes within emails. Frustrated individuals have turned to social media platforms to express their grievances, with one user named Jeremiah voicing his discontent regarding the malfunction on his Samsung Fold device.

Similar complaints have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with users detailing their struggles to read emails due to the persistent screen flickering problem. The underlying cause appears to be linked to Android System WebView, a fundamental Android component enabling apps to display web content internally.

Google product expert Kimiya Kitani acknowledged the intermittent problems with Android System WebView, particularly affecting devices like Samsung tablets. The issue has been reported to Google for further investigation and resolution. While the exact number of impacted users remains unknown, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most affected.

In the interim, a temporary solution has been proposed by Kitani. By rotating the device, users may mitigate the flickering temporarily. The suggested workaround involves opening emails in portrait mode, rotating the device to landscape mode to correct the display, and then switching back to portrait mode.

As users await a permanent fix from Google, rotating the device as described may provide some relief from the screen flickering issue.
