Vladimir Putin has issued strong warnings towards western nations while unveiling his new nuclear missile dubbed “Flying Chernobyl,” which he claims is unstoppable after successful tests.
The Russian leader proudly declared having the most advanced nuclear capabilities globally, highlighting a recent secretive test flight on October 21 of the Burevestnik missile, which he described as having an unlimited range and the ability to evade Western defenses.
During a visit to a military command post, Putin received updates on the situation in Ukraine from Russia’s top general, Valery Gerasimov, aged 70.
Simultaneously, Russian forces conducted a brutal overnight assault on Kyiv, targeting residential buildings and resulting in casualties, including children.
Putin emphasized the recent nuclear war exercises as a display of Russia’s superior nuclear deterrent forces compared to other nations, particularly mentioning the advanced capabilities of the Burevestnik missile.
Gerasimov confirmed the successful test of the Burevestnik missile on October 21, detailing its long-distance flight and maneuvering abilities to avoid defense systems effectively.
The missile’s flight endurance of 15 continuous hours impressed Putin, who had initially announced the project seven years ago, highlighting the significant progress achieved since its earlier two-minute test in 2022.
Despite concerns about the environmental and safety implications of the missile’s radioactive exhaust, nicknamed “Flying Chernobyl,” Putin acknowledged that it is not yet ready for combat but aimed to instill fear in the West regarding Russia’s ongoing military activities in Ukraine.
In Kyiv, fires broke out in tall buildings as rescue efforts were underway following the deadly strikes, while Putin’s representative in the US attempted to shift blame to Ukrainian air defenses for civilian casualties caused by Russian attacks.
Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the relentless Russian strikes on civilian targets, highlighting the extensive use of various weapons by Russia, including drones, aerial bombs, and missiles, causing severe damage to Ukraine and its people.
