Dr. Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic, emphasizes that preventing heart disease is much easier than treating it.

    The encouraging news is that preventing the condition, which affects millions worldwide, may be as simple as adjusting your diet or increasing physical activity levels, even through activities like walking, as reported by Bristol Live.

    Dr. Lopez-Jimenez urges individuals to integrate these simple changes into their daily routines to enhance their well-being. He specifically advises those prescribed medication for high blood pressure or high cholesterol to follow their doctor’s instructions to reduce the risk of a heart attack. His warning emphasizes the importance of taking medications, monitoring health indicators, and ensuring that all risk factors are well managed, according to the Mayo Clinic News Network.

    Among his suggestions, he recommends increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables to enrich the diet with essential nutrients that not only boost energy levels but also support heart health. Opting for whole grains, which are rich in fiber and nutrients, and choosing healthy fats like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are also recommended.

    An excellent choice for incorporating healthy fats is the avocado, hailed as a superfood by gut health expert Dr. Steven Gundry. Dr. Gundry highlights the benefits of avocados for overall health, weight loss, nutrient absorption, and their rich content of monounsaturated fat and prebiotic fibers.

    In addition to avocados, Dr. Lopez-Jimenez advises consuming low-fat proteins such as lean meat, poultry, fish, and legumes, while reducing salt intake to help regulate blood pressure.
