A young pregnant woman from the UK facing drug smuggling charges has been relocated to a specialized facility within a Georgian prison, where she now enjoys improved living conditions, including access to better hygiene facilities, her mother revealed.

The woman, identified as Bella May Culley, 19 years old and reportedly in her eighth month of pregnancy, was apprehended at Tbilisi Airport for allegedly attempting to transport a significant amount of marijuana and hashish into the country.

Following her transfer from Rustavi Prison Number Five, Culley’s mother, Lyanne Kennedy, informed the BBC that her daughter has been moved to a prison housing a mother and baby unit. Previously, Culley had been enduring harsh conditions with limited amenities, but now, her situation has notably ameliorated, with access to a communal kitchen, personal shower, and proper toilet facilities.

Kennedy shared that Culley is now allowed more outdoor time, communal cooking privileges, and improved hygiene facilities, highlighting her daughter’s positive adjustment to the new environment. The family is actively advocating for Culley’s return home and remains hopeful for a favorable outcome in the ongoing legal proceedings.

Reports suggest that Culley may face a two-year jail sentence as part of a plea agreement, with a formal sentencing expected imminently. Efforts by her legal team to secure her release on bail pending the final verdict have been denied, indicating that the legal process is progressing towards a resolution.
