Reports indicate that a passenger has fallen overboard from a cruise ship carrying British vacationers.
Travelers aboard the Norwegian Jewel, en route from Barcelona to Miami, were alerted at 2 am by the emergency signal “code Oscar starboard,” signaling a person overboard situation. A passenger stated that cruise staff confirmed the incident, and the ship is currently engaged in search and rescue operations, navigating the Atlantic Ocean.
The Norwegian cruise ship departed from Barcelona on October 15, 2025. An anonymous British passenger mentioned, “I was asleep in my cabin when the captain announced ‘code Oscar starboard’.”
“Upon hearing the announcement in our rooms, I researched and discovered that ‘Oscar’ signifies a person overboard. We were just informed that someone has fallen overboard, prompting the circling of the ship for search efforts.”
Norwegian Cruise Line has been approached for a statement regarding the incident.
