A parent physically assaulted a teacher in front of students at a school in Brazil after the teacher instructed a student to stop using her mobile phone in class. The 53-year-old teacher at Guara Education Centre 4 in Brazil’s Federal District was advising the student to focus on the lesson instead of her phone when the situation escalated. The student promptly contacted her father, Thiago Lenin Sousa, who arrived at the school and attacked the teacher, striking them nine times in the head while school cameras captured the violent incident.
Multiple witnesses, including other students and colleagues, observed the assault. Sousa was subsequently arrested and charged with making threats and assault. The teacher reported to authorities that she had simply directed the student not to use her phone, leading to the confrontation with Sousa.
The incident has raised concerns within the community regarding school safety and the use of mobile devices in educational settings. The state’s education department has initiated an investigation into the matter and issued a statement condemning violence in schools, emphasizing the importance of a secure and respectful learning environment.
The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with many questioning the allowance of phones in schools. People have expressed disbelief at the parent’s behavior and its impact on teacher authority within classrooms, highlighting potential challenges in maintaining discipline and order in educational settings.
