New revelations have surfaced regarding the passing of Sam Rivers, the bassist of the band Limp Bizkit. Rivers, who was highly regarded as “pure magic” by his fellow band members, passed away on October 18. While the exact cause of death remains undisclosed, officials from the St. Johns County department of the Florida Fire Rescue have shared new insights.
According to reports, emergency responders were called to the scene for a “non-responsive person in cardiac arrest” on the same day, with deputies confirming an “attended death” at the location. An ‘attended death’ typically refers to a scenario where the deceased individual was under medical care for a severe or life-threatening ailment expected to lead to imminent death within a short period.
The specific illness that Rivers might have been battling is currently unknown. As a founding member of the metal band Limp Bizkit since its inception in 1994, Rivers played a significant role in the group’s formation.
In an emotional tribute, Rivers’ bandmates Fred Durst, John Otto, Wes Borland, and DJ Lethal mourned his loss, emphasizing his irreplaceable contribution to the band. They described him as more than just a bass player, highlighting his exceptional talent, calming presence amidst chaos, and profound impact on their music.
Limp Bizkit was established after Rivers crossed paths with Durst while working at Chick-Fil-A. The band’s debut album, “Three Dolla Bill, Y’all,” was released in 1997, leading to subsequent success and three Grammy nominations, including for Best Rock Album.
Rivers temporarily departed from the band in 2015 due to a battle with liver disease, which necessitated a liver transplant. Despite his health struggles, he made a comeback in 2018. Unfortunately, Rivers faced challenges in maintaining his recovery, succumbing to alcohol abuse that jeopardized his health.
