Government minister Sir Chris Bryant has stated that Prince Andrew did not merit the titles he has been stripped of. Sir Chris disclosed an encounter where Prince Andrew insisted on arriving by helicopter, contrasting the late Queen’s usual mode of arrival by car. He emphasized that the public has long desired the removal of Andrew’s titles.
Sir Chris also recommended that Andrew should travel to the US to address inquiries regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Buckingham Palace recently announced that Andrew has agreed to vacate Royal Lodge due to ongoing controversies surrounding his ties to Epstein. Henceforth, he will be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
Speaking on Times Radio, Sir Chris remarked on the numerous allegations against Andrew over the years, particularly from Virginia Giuffre, and the changing narratives about his relationship with Epstein. The minister highlighted the abuse of trust and the widespread sentiment that Andrew should be stripped of his titles.
Regarding the allegations of abuse made by Virginia Giuffre, Sir Chris emphasized that Andrew misused his position of trust to seek illicit advantages. He urged Andrew, now considered an ordinary member of the public, to cooperate with any requests for information, especially from US authorities.
Despite Andrew’s denial of the accusations, Buckingham Palace acknowledged serious lapses in judgment. The Palace clarified that Andrew will be referred to as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and will relocate from Royal Lodge to alternate accommodations following the surrender of his lease. These actions were deemed necessary despite Andrew’s continued denial of the allegations against him.
