A man has been sentenced to jail for mistreating his wife during a trip to Benidorm. Andrew Stockman, aged 54, forcibly evicted his wife Sandra from their vacation rental for two days following an outburst in the popular tourist destination. The couple, who had been together since their teenage years, had planned the trip as a much-needed break over the Christmas holidays last year.

According to the court proceedings, Sandra, who had a history of abuse, reached a breaking point during this incident. The prosecutor revealed that the strain in their marriage culminated during their Christmas getaway in 2024 in Spain. While abroad, Mrs. Stockman was caring for a sick friend who tragically passed away. Despite her attempts to organize the funeral, Stockman’s behavior worsened, leading him to expel her without her passport.

Over the years, Sandra endured physical violence and emotional abuse from Stockman, including being subjected to kicks, punches, strangulation, and black eyes. The couple, who operated a bed and breakfast establishment, are now in the process of divorcing after more than three decades of marriage and raising two adult children together. Most of the abuse incidents occurred when Stockman was intoxicated, with physical assaults occurring monthly. Despite a period of reduced physical violence after starting the B&B business, the mental and verbal abuse persisted.

In a statement, Sandra described enduring years of torment and feeling controlled by Stockman rather than loved. She expressed regret over lost time spent in a relationship marked by violence and manipulation. Stockman, from Llay, North Wales, confessed to coercive and controlling conduct. Judge Timothy Petts sentenced him to three years and five months in prison, highlighting the frequent physical, verbal, and emotional abuse inflicted on Sandra, including threats to harm her or himself.
