    “Major Crash Causes 40-Minute Delays on M60 in Stockport”

    Drivers are encountering extensive traffic delays on a major highway during the rush hour this morning due to a collision. The M60’s clockwise carriageway at junction 27 in Stockport, specifically at the Portwood Roundabout, saw traffic come to a halt following the incident, initially resulting in the closure of two lanes.

    According to Google traffic data, the tailbacks are stretching back toward junction 23 for Ashton-under-Lyne. While traffic conditions are gradually improving on the M60 near Stockport after the crash, which led to the closure of two lanes, residual delays are still present as confirmed by National Highways. The agency advises allowing an extra 40 minutes for journeys due to the congestion.

    Greater Manchester Police reported that the earlier crash on the M60 involved three vehicles but thankfully resulted in no injuries or arrests. Motorists have been cautioned about 40-minute delays on the M60 near Stockport post the collision. Although two lanes were initially closed, the motorway is now completely open, with National Highways noting that delays have reduced from an hour to 40 minutes.

    National Highways: North West has updated that all lanes have reopened on the M60 clockwise near Stockport after the collision, with residual delays of 40 minutes above normal travel times. They advise travelers to still allocate extra time for their journey.

    Inrix mentioned slow traffic and two closed lanes on the M60 clockwise at J27, specifically at A560 Great Portwood Street near Portwood Roundabout. Surrounding A-roads are also experiencing delays near junction 27.

Traffic congestion is extending through Tameside to junction 23 at Ashton-under-Lyne, as per Google traffic data. Additionally, traffic is starting to accumulate on nearby roads close to the accident site, with some slow-moving traffic observed on the anticlockwise carriageway as vehicles pass the scene.
