Luke Littler has a chance to recoup some of his £1 million PDC World Darts Championship prize money. The 18-year-old secured back-to-back world titles by defeating Gian van Veen at Alexandra Palace. Littler’s dominant 7-1 victory over the Dutchman marked his third consecutive final appearance. Notably, he became the first player to claim the £1 million prize.
Despite the substantial prize increase from last year, Littler faces a hefty tax bill due to UK tax laws. Approximately 45% of his winnings will be taxed, potentially leaving him with a bill of up to £450,000. With National Insurance contributions added, his tax liability could reach around £470,000 following his second world championship win.
Looking ahead, Littler is gearing up for the Bahrain Darts Masters commencing on January 15. In 2024, he clinched the event by defeating Michael van Gerwen, securing a £30,000 victory. Returning to the Bahrain Masters as a 10-time PDC major title winner, Littler expressed his determination to win the title again.
If successful in Bahrain, Littler will have minimal time to rest before competing in the inaugural Saudi Arabia Darts Masters starting on January 19 in Riyadh. His goal is to establish himself in the first Saudi Arabian World Series. Following the tournament, Littler plans to unwind in Dubai with his family.
While last year’s World Series events offered a £30,000 prize, the 2026 tournament winnings are yet to be confirmed. Littler, aiming to rival Phil Taylor’s record, emphasized his ambition to dominate the sport after his recent triumphs.
“I want to dominate everything, I want to try to win everything,” Littler stated. His aspirations align with his desire to continue his success and solidify his position in darts.
