A 12-year-old girl was subjected to a horrific ordeal involving rape, torture, and murder.
Lola Daviet’s lifeless body was discovered in a suitcase in Paris, leading to the arrest of Dahbia Benkired, who has now become the first woman in French history to receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole for these crimes.
The disturbing details of Lola’s final moments were revealed during the court proceedings. Lola, known for enjoying camping trips with her family, encountered Benkired, a homeless Algerian immigrant, outside her residence. Surveillance footage captured Benkired unlawfully entering the building and lingering in the hallways.
The last recorded images show Lola noticing Benkired and seemingly following her down a corridor. Tragically, these were the final moments before Lola’s demise. Benkired later confessed in court to luring Lola, restraining her, and ultimately killing her.
After being sexually assaulted and bound with tape found at Benkired’s sister’s residence, Lola was left suffocating on the floor with her face covered. Benkired then callously left the scene, returning only briefly to the living room while playing loud music to drown out any sounds of struggle.
Throughout the violent encounter, Lola suffered severe injuries to her face, back, and neck from a knife and scissors. Medical experts determined that these injuries occurred both before and after her death, with Benkired subsequently concealing the body in a large plastic suitcase.
Following a hasty clean-up, Benkired exited her sister’s apartment and was later captured on CCTV using suitcases to prop open the building’s front door before dragging the suitcase containing Lola’s body towards the exit.
During the trial in Paris, Benkired was branded a “monster devil” by Lola’s grieving family and was sentenced to life imprisonment for her monstrous actions.
Noteworthy individuals serving similar sentences include Salah Abdeslam, a Belgian terrorist involved in the ISIS attacks that claimed 130 lives in Paris in November 2015.
