A woman has recently disclosed that she can make substantial earnings per day by working as a professional model, focusing solely on showcasing one specific body part – her hands. Avisha Tewani, who transitioned to modeling from being a freelance stylist in 2020, shared that her hands have been featured in various campaigns for renowned global brands such as Dior and Chanel.
Starting her modeling career by assisting a family member in a shoot for wedding and engagement rings, Avisha submitted the photos to an agent, leading to her quick entry into the industry within the first couple of weeks of being signed. Since then, the 35-year-old from New York City has collaborated with major brands like Starbucks, Coca-Cola, Absolut Vodka, and Kylie Cosmetics. To maintain her hands’ impeccable condition, Avisha has made lifestyle adjustments such as refraining from cycling and wearing gloves while doing household chores.
Earning between $300 to $3,000 per day on assignments, Avisha has expanded her modeling repertoire to include other body parts like legs, feet, ears, and neck. She emphasized that her success began with a simple Google search for “hand model New York City,” reaching out to the first agent listed, which swiftly led to her first modeling gigs.
Despite the perks of her career, Avisha has had to make sacrifices like giving up boxing workouts and being cautious during daily activities to avoid hand injuries. She mentioned that preparing for shoots involves meticulous hand care and adhering to clients’ preferences for manicures.
Avisha’s workload has increased significantly since joining the industry, with jobs sometimes booked as late as 7 am on the shoot day. She highlighted the demanding nature of the job, emphasizing that it involves more than just holding products but also requires creativity to showcase the brand effectively.
With workdays ranging from two to 12 hours, Avisha collaborates with multiple agents specializing in different body parts. She stressed the importance of meeting client expectations and showcasing creativity during shoots, even when limited samples of products are available.
Expressing gratitude for the increasing demand for models with middle skin tones in the industry, Avisha acknowledged the evolving trends that benefit her career. She noted the opportunity for higher earnings in commercials with usage fees included and highlighted the advantages of having a versatile look that appeals to a broad range of clients.
