“Former TV News Anchor Arrested for Mother’s Murder”

A TV news journalist accused of committing first-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of her elderly mother reportedly remained at the scene covered in blood until authorities arrived.

Angelynn ‘Angie’ Mock, a former morning news anchor at Fox 2 News in St. Louis, Missouri, is now at the center of a shocking incident. On the morning of Friday, October 31, just before 8 am, officers from the Wichita Police Department responded to a residence where Mock, 47, was standing outside alongside her mother, Anita Avers, who was found with multiple stab wounds.

Anita, an 80-year-old marriage and family therapist, was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead at 8:26 am. Mock, who exhibited cuts on her hands upon law enforcement’s arrival, received medical treatment for undisclosed injuries before being taken into custody.

The former news anchor, who had a tenure at Fox 2 from March 2011 to February 2015, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, as indicated by public records from Sedgwick County. Mock is currently held on a $1 million bond, and it remains unknown whether she has entered a plea or secured legal representation. Her charge is active at present.

Neighbor Alyssa Castro, as reported by KAKE News, an ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas, recounted encountering Mock seeking assistance while covered in blood, prompting her to call 911. Castro expressed relief that she could offer help in the unexpected situation.

According to information from 911 dispatchers, the incident was described as the “calling party stabbing the mother to save herself.” Authorities have not disclosed further details, categorizing the event as a domestic conflict. Mock, whose LinkedIn profile reveals a background that includes roles at Oklahoma City’s KOKH FOX 25, was working in sales for a data management software company prior to her arrest.

Beginning her career as a sports reporter at local Midwest stations, Mock transitioned to broader success before changing career paths in February 2015.
