A couple from Connecticut, Trista L. Reilly, 43, and Christopher D. Arnold, 42, who were arrested for engaging in a sexual act in front of children on a JetBlue flight, have had the criminal charges against them dismissed in Florida. The incident occurred after their flight from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport landed in Florida in July. The couple, residents of Danbury, faced charges of lewd and lascivious exhibition in the presence of minors, a felony offense in Florida.
The charges were dropped by Florida authorities last week without disclosing the reasons behind their decision, as reported by The Mercury News. According to court documents, a mother on JetBlue Flight 163 on July 19 alerted a flight attendant after witnessing Ms. Reilly lying on Mr. Arnold’s lap, leading to the involvement of law enforcement.
Following the incident, the couple were arrested upon landing and subsequently released on their own recognizance. They pleaded not guilty in August. JetBlue responded to the situation by condemning the behavior as “completely unacceptable” and assured that such actions are not tolerated by the airline. The airline stated that upon receiving the report, their crew members promptly engaged JetBlue’s security team and law enforcement, and they are fully cooperating with the investigation. JetBlue also announced that the couple is no longer permitted to fly with the airline.
In a separate incident, police responded to a threatening note found in the toilet of a Frontier Airlines flight traveling from Denver, Colorado, to Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. The aircraft landed safely in Dallas, and the threat was later deemed non-credible by law enforcement. Frontier Airlines confirmed that the flight crew discovered the note, leading to the involvement of authorities upon landing at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Passengers were allowed to deplane after the aircraft was cleared by authorities.
